Communications Technology TGJ201. Students will use a variety of programs from Photoshop to Adobe Premier. They will create writing paper, posters, CD covers, a radio commercial, and a video. Individual and group work.
Grade 11
Technological Design TDJ3M1. Students, in an architectural environment, learn to design and create items for consumer use like pinball games, and scale size structures like tree houses and cottages or houses. Landscape design is also covered in this course. Individual and group work. No pre-requisite but Grade 9 Exploring Technologies or Grade 10 Construction would be beneficial.
Construction TCJ3C1. Students learn shop safety, autocad and the design and creation of structures like towers, decks, decorative boxes and tables. Autocad, electricity, drywall and framing are also covered. Individual and group work. No pre-requisite but Grade 10 Construction or Grade 9 Exploring Technologies would be beneficial.
Communications Technology TGJ 3M1. Students continue to develop skills using the programs Photoshop and Adobe Premier. Students design a variety of items like billboards, a DVD cover, radio program and video. Individual and group work. No pre-requisite, but Grade 10 Com Tech is beneficial to understanding this course.
Computer Engineering Technology TEJ 3M1. Build digital circuits, robotic challenges, create software applications and network computers. Past projects have included computer controlled launchers and vehicles, creating video games with interaction like Dance-Dance revolution, electronic passcode locks and more. We also build autonomous robots that communicate with each other, sort objects and compete in Sumobot style. Interesting, isn't it?
Furniture Production and Design TWJ3E1. First half of course: Students will perform basic functions such as measurement, methods analysis, plant layout, material handling, quality control, cost estimating of tool applications, furniture design and assembly. Second half of course: Using lessons learned in the first half of the course, students will design and construct custom furnture, built-ins and other residential home details. Autocad is a big part of this course. Individual and group work. No pre-requisite but Grade 10 Construction or Grade 9 Exploring Technologies would be beneficial.
Health Care TPJ3C, Gr 11 College Prep. (SHSM Major Course) Interested in health care? This course enables you to explore your interests while you learn how to use equipment (including your own stethoscope) and demonstrate skills used in a variety of health care applications (from care giving to 'surgery' in our mock operating room). You will receive training in essential skills for health care workers: safety, infection control, medical terminology, therapeutic communication, and assisting mobility using a Hoyer lift. You will also learn about human anatomy and physiology and how to take and interpret vital signs (just like on TV). Finally, learn how to be healthy and live longer by exploring a variety of life skill topics. A field trip to see career opportunities is included.
Come explore your interests: highly useful!
(Recommended for Grade 10-12 girls and boys. May be followed by TPJ4C, TOJ4C, and co-op for further study and work place experience in the health care field.)
