Welcome Geographers!
Sir William Mulock Secondary School offers a varied, extensive geography program. We offer geography courses that appeal to a wide range of students, accommodate a wide variety of interests and develop many different skills. Regardless of what career field you plan to choose for yourself, there is a geography course for you! Geographic skills can successfully lead students to a broad array of post-secondary destinations.
Geography in Grade 9 is compulsory, as mandated by the Ministry of Education. This course, the Geography of Canada, introduces students to the three subdisciplines within Geography: Human, Physical and Technological Geography, taught in a Canadian context. In Grade 10 students can explore the diversity of Eurasia; in the senior years, students may select from a variety of courses offered in various streams. Popular courses include Travel and Tourism, Physical Geography, Geographics, Environment & Resource Management, and World Issues.
At SWMSS, students are very fortunate to have access to a variety of technological tools such as GIS and GPS systems. These tools are integrated in all courses to expand geographic experience and create exciting, interactive geography classes. We are also fortunate to have highly knowledgeable and specialized, qualified teaching staff to operate our geography department.
Remember, Geography is Everything and Everything is Geography!
