This course emphasizes the active exploration of dramatic forms and techniques, using materials from a wide range of authors, genres and cultures.  Tableaux, soundscapes, choral speaking and creative movement!

Major units of study include:

Fundimentals of Theatre, History of Comedy

'Skins' by Canadian Dennis Foon

Grade10 ADA2O1

No Prerequisite

Building on the fundimental of theatre learned in Grade 9, students will layer in new skills in the specific demands of writing for the theatre and character development. 

Major units of study include:

Greek Mythology and Mask Making

'7 Stories' by Canadian Morris Panych

Grade 11 ADA3M1

Grade 9 and/or 10 Prerequisite

This course builds on the conventions of theatre learned in earlier years.  Students will study the historic 1954 Stratford Festival of Canada production of Oedipus Rex starring James Mason.  A deep exploration of the genius of ancient Greek Theatre and the power of grand masks will occur.

Major units of study include:

'Oedipus Rex' and Mask Making

'Six Characters in Search of an Author'

Grade 12 ADA4M1

Grade 11 Prerequisite

This is the course you've been working towards!  Be part of an evening of your own original works.  Celebrate all you've learned in Drama and show everyone the skills and talents you are gifted with!

Major units of study include:

Early Canadian Theatre
